This is infact an alternator, which you would know if you found this by part number and not some other means. Did fit in without a hitch, other than the install process itself... Would buy again if in need, how ever alternators are damn expensive now. Hopefully I will only need this one until my car rusts out from the northeastern salts.Now this is not a fault of the product, but the design from engineers. They use one way pulleys to allow the alternator for spin freely when the engine slows down. They are rated for 60k miles before they stop working. alternators work sometimes for 200k miles and just need bearings. How ever a new OWP is over $90, so for the price and effort, jut replace the whole thing. but seems like a huge waste of a good part because the alternator is still working correctly.... either way bad design. I rebuilt the one I removed because it only needed $18 worth of bearings. but the bearings are pressed in AND crimped. so very hard if you haven't done it before.
