After reading the book and studying it for a few days, I washed the grills and the drip tray. I bought a marinated chicken breast and a beautiful strip steak two days ago, and.after careful consideration, I decided tonight was the night. I threw the chicken breast in the freezer and decided it was all or nothing. I microwaved a potato while the grill preheated and thought at least I'll have the potato to eat. I preheated the OptiGrill+ and when it was ready, put on the strak. I never lifted the lid, but trusted the grill. I took the steak off just after the rare beep and it was WONDERFUL, perfectly grilled and juicy. In one meal this has paid for itself. I am single and live in Wisconsin, not the place to grill outside for one. I can't wait to use it again!Update.May 24, 2017I've tried a single pork chop twice now and neither one was edible. Both came out tough and grey - very disappointing. I think the problem is that with one one boneless pork chop, the top is so heavy that it flattens the meat and cooks too quickly to brown the outside or leave the inside juicy. Maybe with a number of chops - but I'm only one person and I bought this so I could grill for just myself - and for just one meal.Love, love, love this indoor grill. Non-stick removable plates are easy to clean. You can cook on auto or manual. Comes with a great little cookbook. Wore our first one out over the years, but we loved it so much we bought the same brand.I purchased this a couple weeks ago, and since then I have not touched my stove! I've cooked several steaks on it, sirloins and new yorks and it cooks them perfectly every time; I dont even need to season them any more, just throw on some salt and pepper and throw them on. Also I have cooked several chicken breasts and turkey burgers and all you have to do is power it on, press the poultry button, let it preheat, throw on the chicken, close the lid and wait to hear the beep. Cooks it perfect every time, and there is no fatty cooking oil needed! I highly recommend this product to any one who is looking for a simpler way to cook meals without all the skillets and pans or greasy oils.I Love this grill! I used it to make dry rubbed pork chops my first time yesterday and they came out perfectly! Very juicy and tender. There is no need to check your meat like you do on a foreman grill. It literally does all the work for you. My 1.5in chops were Cooked to perfection in about 10 mins. One suggestion when using this is to season your meat a little less than usual. I use heavy seasoning when outdoor grilling because a lot seems to melt off on a traditional grill but with this you don't lose a lot of your seasoning.Easier to clean faster to cook I wish the plates were flat and can be reversible where you can cook eggs bacon or pancakes but overall its great to have it.This grill is terrific. Cooks food properly based on programming. The last 2 times I used it, the programming did not work. It went directly into manual mode. Called Customer Service yesterday. A very helpful Rep walked me through what I'll call 're-programming'. Took 3-4 minutes, all done, works like new.I've tried getting a hold of seller and even reached out to T-fal and no valid responses l. I've now purchased 2 grills and neither work the way they should. They do cook food but only on manual setting. The buttons on handle for preset cooking (e.g., Steak, poultry) don't work. I bought a 3 year warranty and hope someone actually contacts me who can remedy this situation.Grills way better than I expected. I love the sensor cooking for meats! I am sure when it is done right the first time. Great for just about all meats. I found the 3rd setting of manual mode great for bacon if you like it crispy. No smoke and grease splashing everywhere!product arrived next day. Opened the box, washed the grill and tried it that night. Grill heated up in a few minutes and was ready to use. Sprayed the grill plates with cooking oil, threw the steak on, and the grill did the rest. Pulled the steak off at the end of the medium cycle and it was done just the way I like it Tried a pork steak the next night and let it cook to well done and it came out perfect. The 3rd night I cooked chicken breasts and over cooked it. After a few more attempts at cooking chicken breasts I found that pulling them off immediately when done and not letting them rest they were still good and juicy. So overall I am very pleased with the product. PS - I found a grout brush ( an oversized tooth brush) which makes cleaning the grill plates very easy.Best kept secret for the kitchen. For a family of 2 or a bachelor, this thing is unbelievable! You forget to take something out (frozen) in the morning, you push the frozen button and the little computer thinks on its own and defrosts it before it cooks it, so convenient, so easy to clean, definitely recommend this product. Thanks T Fal!!Darren VI researched many many grills. All kinds of grills. Reviews from Amazon and external sites. And a friend has one he loves. It’s fantastic! It’s opened up a great new way to cook dinner. Did my steak medium rare with no trouble at all! I did potato slices (1/4” thick), chicken, zucchini. All came out perfectly. And I really have no idea what I’m doing. This is a second kitchen item I’m really loving (the other is my instapot).Other reviews talk about breakage and customer service. To that I say, everyone’s experiences will be different. Time will tell if the unit is truly made to last. So far it seems well made. The grill plates are nice and lightweight which surprised me. They have a great release button system so you can wash them.Cons? Ok the power cord is short but not for me. So not really a con. But I had to find something negative to report. Nothing is perfect. So far we am loving this. We bought a previous year model as the new one reviews says it has many sensor issues. So we chose the one before it. We are so impressed this far. I did chicken in it today and it is incredible! We love it so much we gave away our Big Boss Wave cooker.. another bonus, it fits in cabinets easily which the big boss and our other G Foreman griller didn't!!Takes some time figuring out, but we are loving it so far!!Update: after a year the sensors stopped working and it is no more use than a George Forman grill.. just cost more. No I wouldn't recommend it.A week after the warranty expired, the unit started going directly into the manual mode. A couple of months later, the upper plate stopped working completely. Through searching for a fix online, I see that these are very common issues. I haven’t used the unit much during the year it was usable, not worth the money. Now that I see how many people are experiencing the same issue with units going directly to manual mode, I wouldn’t buy again.
